How to send SMS from Outlook
#1 Write your message as an email
Before you can send SMS from your email, you need to set it up in inMobile. Go to the "Email to SMS" tab — see how in our guide: Email to SMS.
Once the setup is complete, create a new email in Outlook or your preferred email client. Type your message in the email body — just as you would with a regular email — then proceed to step 2.

#2 Enter the mobile number as the recipient
To send an SMS from your email client, enter the recipient's mobile number in the recipient field. The number should include the country code followed by @sms.inmobile.dk (example: 4588888888@sms.inmobile.dk). Outlook will then know to send the message as an SMS.
To send to an entire list at once, use the list's unique email address. You can find it in your inMobile account under "Email to SMS" by clicking the "List email addresses" button. Example: alle-kunder@sms.inmobile.dk.

#3 Send SMS directly from Outlook
Once you've written your message and entered the mobile number as the recipient, send the email as normal. inMobile's platform will receive it, convert it to an SMS, and deliver it directly to the recipient's mobile phone within seconds.
If you'd like to receive replies by email, use a virtual number as the sender. When the recipient replies to your SMS, it will be converted and sent back to your inbox.

What can you use SMS from Outlook for?
Notifications
SMS is an effective channel for short, time-sensitive messages that need to be read straight away.
SMS from Outlook is therefore ideal for notifications where speed matters. This could include messages about new customer enquiries, changes to appointments, or updates from internal systems. By sending notifications as SMS, you ensure the recipient gets the message directly on their mobile — where it is almost always read within minutes.
Even though you send the message from your usual email client, the recipient receives it as a regular SMS. This is particularly useful, as emails often get buried in busy inboxes and may not be seen until long after they arrive.

Service messages
Use SMS from Outlook for service messages to inform customers or users about important updates. This could include booking confirmations, appointment reminders, or notifications of changes to an order or delivery. By sending these messages as SMS, you ensure the information reaches recipients quickly and is seen in time.
Service messages via SMS are especially effective when communication is time-sensitive. Many businesses therefore use SMS to send automated reminders, status updates, or short messages to help customers take the next step.
By sending service messages directly from Outlook, you can manage all communication from the system you already use every day. This makes it easy to send messages quickly and keep the conversation in one place.

Internal communication
Use SMS from Outlook for internal company communications when it is important that messages are seen quickly. This could include alerts about shift changes, operational updates, or quick messages to field staff who may not have access to a computer or internet connection.
By sending internal messages as SMS, you ensure the information reaches your employees' mobile phones directly. This makes SMS an effective channel for short, time-sensitive messages that might otherwise be missed in a busy inbox.
When sending SMS via Outlook, you can use the workflows your employees already know from their email client. This makes the solution straightforward to adopt in day-to-day work.
