Mobile number cooldown: SMS automations

Enable Mobile Number Cooldown to exclude those mobile users who have already received an SMS from your company within a certain time interval.

The "Mobile number cooldown" feature allows you to decide whether a mobile user should receive the SMS messages in your SMS automation depending on when the mobile user last received an SMS from your organisation.

Activating Mobile Number Cooldown means that you exclude mobile numbers from the SMS message in your chosen SMS automation if the mobile numbers have already received an SMS message within a certain time interval. You decide the time interval. It is specified for each automation when the function is activated.

In the video above you can see how to activate Mobile Number Cooldown in SMS automation.

How to use Mobile Number Cooldown in SMS automation

  1. Go to the menu item "SMS automations".
  2. Click "Create new SMS automation" or edit an existing one.
  3. Fill in the fields provided with title (for internal use), recipients, country code and sending window.
  4. Tick the "Mobile number cooldown" box to activate the feature.
  5. Insert your desired time interval*.
  6. Tap next and continue scheduling your SMS automation.

You can now be sure that your SMS automation will not automatically send SMS messages to mobile users who have already received an SMS within your specified time interval.

*The time interval indicates within which time a mobile user must have received a text message to be excluded from your automatic SMS notification.

Benefits of Mobile Number Cooldown

By activating Mobile Number Cooldown, you can gain potential benefits.

Positive customer experiences
Respecting your recipients' time and attention, including not sending too many text messages in a short period of time, can help reinforce a positive perception of your brand and company communication.

Control your SMS broadcasts
When you send SMS messages via SMS automation, it will generally be your automation trigger that determines whether a recipient should receive a scheduled SMS. However, if you enable Mobile Number Cooldown, this feature will ensure that a mobile user will not receive the SMS in question if the mobile user has already received an SMS within the specified time interval.

Avoid unsubscriptions
A mobile user can risk being overwhelmed if too many SMS messages are sent in too short a time, potentially leading to an unsubscribe. Reduce the risk of cancellations by enabling Mobile Number Cooldown and keeping track of your company's SMS frequency.
