Do you use ActiveCampaign to send emails and inMobile to send SMS messages? Then we have great news for you.
With inMobile's integration with ActiveCampaign, you can send SMS messages in your ActiveCampaign automations. For example, you can send automatic SMS messages and delete and add contacts to your blacklist - completely automatically and as a direct part of your flows in ActiveCampaign.
Combining SMS and email has never been easier. Read how to do it in our step-by-step guide below.
Step by step guide: How to use SMS in ActiveCampaign automations
Watch the video below to see how you can send SMS messages and perform other automated actions in inMobile - completely automatically through your ActiveCampaign automation.
Are you more into reader-friendly guides? You'll find a detailed, written guide below the video.
1. Go to your ActiveCampaign account
The first thing you need to do is log in to your ActiveCampaign account. Click on the "Automations" menu item and find the flow where you want to insert SMS.

2. Go to the menu item "CX Apps"
In the menu to the right of your automation you will find "cx Apps" - click here.

3. Find the inMobile feature you want to insert
At the top of the menu you will find the search bar, here you type "inMobile". You will now get a list of all the actions you can use in ActiveCampaign, which automatically synchronises with your inMobile account. They are described under the guide here.

4. Insert your chosen function
Drag your selected function into the flow where the action should happen. If you want to send an SMS, you drag "Send SMS Message" into the flow.
If this is your first time using inMobile in ActiveCampaign, start by connecting the two systems. You do this by filling in the empty fields:
4.1 "Value to ignore"
Here you enter the name of your integration, e.g. your company name(it's not important what you write here, as it's just information for yourself).
4.2 "API key"
Find or create your API key in inMobile* and paste it here.
How to create and find your API key in inMobile
- Go to your inMobile account.
- On the left side you will find the button "API" - click here.
- Now find the tab "API keys".
- Here you press "Generate API key".
- You will now get your API key, which must be copied into the ActiveCampaign field.

5. Connect the systems
Once you have filled in the blanks, click "Connect".

6. Write your SMS
Now it's time to design your SMS. Here are three empty fields you need to fill in.
6.1 "Country hint"
Here you enter the country code of the country you want to send SMS messages to. To send messages to Danish numbers, type 45. If you don't, you risk some of your messages failing if the country code is not in the profile's phone number field.
6.2 "From"
Here you enter the sender name, which will usually be your company name (maximum 11 characters).
6.3 "Text"
Here you enter the text you want to include in your SMS message. If you want to personalise the message, for example by adding the recipient's first name, you can find ActiveCampaign custom fields on the small lightning bolt in the bottom right corner.

Create an unsubscribe link in the SMS message
In our example, the SMS message ends with "Unsubscribe: s.inmobile.com". This URL is inMobile's unique unsubscribe link that our recipients can use to unsubscribe from our SMS lists. We can use such a link because we have set up a subdomain - and you can do the same.
In our Link Unsubscribe Guide you will learn how to create an unsubscribe link for your SMSes. Please also note that if you work with SMS marketing, it is a legal requirement that the recipient has the option to unsubscribe from your SMS list.
7. Map your fields
Make sure that the correct phone number field in ActiveCampaign synchronises with your phone number field in inMobile. If you have not created a custom field yourself, this will be ActiveCampaign's default field "phone".

8. You are now done
Click "Finish" - now you're actually done, and as soon as your flow is activated, the SMS message will be sent as part of your flow depending on which triggers you have selected.
Do you want to test the feature first? Then you may want to create a test list with only your own contact on it. Use this test list as (your only) trigger in the flow to check if the right action is taking place.
Opportunities with inMobile in ActiveCampaign
There are six different actions in inMobile that you can automate via an automation in ActiveCampaign. You can see the six actions below with a brief explanation of each.

When you insert an action in your ActiveCampaign automation, the integration between ActiveCampaign and inMobile ensures that the action happens automatically over on your inMobile account.

Send SMS Using SMS Templates
If you have a template in your inMobile account, you can use it to send SMS messages in your ActiveCampaign flows using this feature.
Remove Phone Number from Blacklist
If you no longer want a contact or number to be on your blacklist (e.g. if they have performed a specific action), you can automatically request to have the number removed from your blacklist again.
Add Phone Number to Blacklist
If you want to blacklist a number or contact, e.g. for unsubscribing or a specific action, you can use this feature to ask ActiveCampaign to automatically blacklist the contact.
Delete Contact
Want to delete a contact in inMobile? Then you can use this feature to create an automation that automatically deletes contacts based on selected triggers.
Create or Update Contact
If you want to create or update a contact, you can do so via this field. When you insert the feature into ActiveCampaign, it takes care of creating or updating contacts and then synchronises the information to your inMobile account.
Send SMS Message
This feature is probably the one you'll use the most. If you insert this block, you can send an SMS message as part of your ActiveCampaign automation.
