Did you know that SMS marketing is a great way to boost your business?
Every year, Americans spend millions of dollars on SMS campaigns - everything from large corporations to small retail stores have jumped on the growing SMS marketing bandwagon.
Curious to know why this marketing method has become so popular? Read below for 7 reasons why you should consider implementing SMS marketing yourself.
#1 It's cheap
SMS marketing is cheap. It doesn't cost many pennies per text message. Small businesses can get started with SMS marketing for as little as DKK 350-400 per month.
#2 High ROI (Return on Investment)
We've already established that SMS marketing is cheap, but now you might be sceptical, because how much can you really get out of those few hundred dollars a month? In fact, quite a lot!
Let's take an example: you own a small restaurant and have collected a list of mobile phone numbers from your customers (i.e. obtained permission to send SMS messages to them). You send an SMS message to 150 of your customers offering them a free dessert when they order a main course. You'll spend around £60 on this marketing SMS. The open rate for SMS messages is around 98%, and let's say 10 out of the 150 actually take up the offer, you've just received 10 bookings, which should multiply your investment!
#3 SMS messages are received instantly
Forget about spam filters, postage and the hard work of luring customers to your website. When you send a text message to your customers, they receive the message directly in their inbox within seconds, and we've seen examples where the customer is already in the store within minutes of the text message being sent.
#4 Sky-high open rates
As mentioned, the open rate for SMS messages is around 98%. Compare that to an email campaign that - at best - has an open rate of 35%.
#5 Authorisation is key
It's important that you have permission from your customers to send them SMS messages. What's that all about, you might ask? These permissions are what make SMS marketing so effective. Your customer has already agreed to receive your SMS messages and they are already waiting to receive your SMS messages.
By law, consumers must sign up for your SMS service before you can send your SMS campaigns to them. They can do this by sending an SMS to 1245, by signing up via a web form on your website or by giving consent at the checkout in your store. And if they no longer want to receive text messages from you, they can simply reply "STOP" to one of your text messages and they will automatically be removed from your recipient list.
#6 You get straight to the point
An SMS message has a limited length. This means that you only need to write what is absolutely necessary. In other words: you get to the point quickly. This is one of the reasons why SMS messages have such a high open rate.
#7 Everyone has a mobile phone - and we love to text
Almost everyone in Denmark has a mobile phone and we send millions of text messages nationwide every month. Don't think it's worth your while to use SMS marketing? Maybe your competitors are already using it?
